VanityFilter 2.7.0: Three Releases in Three Days

Three days changed how VanityFilter fits into a real creator workflow. Version 2.5 made it faster to test, target, and repeat a look. Version 2.6 introduced an experimental way to heal small blemishes. Version 2.7 brings the whole application to Latin American Spanish and tightens the everyday interface.

v2.5 turned long exports into a faster review loop

The creator update starts with trim and range export. Set In and Out points in seconds or mm:ss, then render only the section you need to judge. Audio uses the same frame-quantized window, so a short test stays in sync. The range controls are for a single clip, while batch jobs keep their existing full-file flow.

That changes a common editing decision. You can test ten seconds with a head turn, a lighting change, and enough movement to expose a weak mask before committing to the full video. The status bar begins estimating processing rate and remaining time after it has enough export data to settle on a useful rate. In a batch, the estimate updates for each file.

Loading footage got simpler too. Drag one clip or a full batch onto the window. The v2.5.1 patch made sure the preview itself accepts the drop instead of swallowing it. Hold Space comparison received the same kind of repair: it now flips to the original from anywhere in the app except while you are typing in a text field.

Choose the face, not just the frame

Primary face only follows the largest, most central face in the shot. Ignore small faces leaves distant people outside the effect. Those choices are recalculated from geometry on every frame, which avoids assigning the effect to a face simply because it happened to occupy the same detection index in the previous frame.

The preview still detects and numbers every visible face. Its green mask overlay shows who will actually be processed. That makes the feature practical for interviews, event footage, or a podcast shot where background faces should remain untouched.

A look can move with the project

Custom looks now travel as .vfpreset files. Export a preset, send it to another editor, or move it between your own machines. A preset created by a newer app version can still load in an older compatible build, with unknown settings ignored instead of rejecting the entire file. The number of saved user slots also doubled from two to four.

Shine removal and Reduce redness became faster at higher resolutions. In the documented full processing test, the smoothing stage ran about 1.6 times faster at 4K and 1.8 times faster at 1080p when those passes were turned up. The thresholds and blends remain full resolution, and built-in presets keep those passes off, so their results did not change.

v2.6 heals small blemishes instead of recoloring them

A pimple is not only red. It may be darker than the surrounding skin and carry its own texture. Turning down redness cannot rebuild that surface. The new Blemish removal slider works earlier in the pipeline, reconstructing small acne and blemish spots from nearby skin before smoothing and detail restoration run.

The detector looks for red inflamed spots and clustered darker pigmentation while deliberately preserving isolated moles, beauty marks, freckles, stubble, and beards. It remains labeled Experimental. Results vary with skin tone, source quality, and acne type, so it deserves a short range-export test before a full job.

Every adjustment also gained an information icon with a plain-language explanation. The tooltip sits beside the control name and stays out of the way while you drag the slider. That is a small change with a useful result: the app explains the adjustment at the exact point where you need to decide whether to use it.

v2.7 completes the Spanish experience

Choose Español from the Language menu and restart VanityFilter to switch all 179 interface strings, including tooltips and error messages, to Latin American Spanish. Number formatting continues to follow the Windows regional settings on the computer.

The installer now includes a complete Spanish PDF manual beside the English edition. Each manual receives its own Start Menu entry, and the Spanish download page links directly to the Spanish file.

Two interface fixes round out the release. Manual update checks now answer reliably after the automatic startup check, and Help and preset menus once again highlight the item under the pointer.

One update contains all three days
